Tips for Using GoNanas Mixes (and Getting the Best Deal)

If you love easy, wholesome baking, GoNanas mixes are a staple worth keeping in your pantry. They make fresh muffins or donuts a cinch and they have so many fun flavors! Before diving into my favorite ways to use them, here’s a quick tip on how to stock up for less.

My favorite deal: Pantry Stock-up

Now let’s get into how I actually use the mixes.

My GoNanas Mix Tips

1. You don’t have to use bananas

Despite the name, I almost never use bananas. My favorite swaps are pumpkin purée and non-dairy yogurt. Both give great texture and flavor. I’ve also heard from others who have had success using applesauce, so there’s plenty of flexibility here.

2. You don’t need extra sugar

The mixes are flavorful on their own. I usually skip adding maple syrup or other sweeteners unless I specifically want a sweeter result. Totally optional.

3. They’re incredibly versatile

These mixes aren’t just for one type of bake. I use them for all kinds of recipes—sweet, snacky, and even a little creative.

Basic muffins:

I follow the recipe on the back of the mix but use pumpkin, applesauce, or yogurt (dairy free or regular works) in place of the banana. Usually I use about 1 1/4 c.

How to Make the 3-Minute Go Nana’s Mug Muffin

Here’s how to make this quick single-serve muffin that’s perfect for busy mornings (or toddler emergencies!)

You’ll need:

• ½ cup Go Nana’s mix (I used their Original Banana Bread mix)

• 2 tablespoons applesauce

• 2 tablespoons non-dairy milk

Instructions:

1️⃣ Spray and grease a large mug well.

2️⃣ In a small bowl, mix the Go Nana’s mix, applesauce, and non-dairy milk until smooth.

3️⃣ Pour the batter into the prepared mug.

4️⃣ Microwave for about 2 minutes. The muffin should look set and pull away from the sides of the mug. If it’s still wet in the middle, cook it in 10–15 second bursts until done.

5️⃣ Carefully run a knife around the edges to loosen it. You may need a spoon to loosen the bottom as well.

6️⃣ Invert onto a plate (or eat it right from the mug!) and enjoy warm.

🍩 Donut Ingredients

  • 1 bag of GoNanas mix

  • 1 1/4 cup non-dairy yogurt (I used So Delicious vanilla)

🔥 Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Grease a donut pan well.

  3. Mix the GoNanas mix and the yogurt in a bowl until completely combined.

  4. Scoop or pipe the batter into the donut pan.

  5. Bake for 15–20 minutes, until they’re set and slightly springy.

  6. Let cool a bit before removing from the pan.
